Business Continuity Management, explained

1. What is Business Continuity Management (BCM)?
Business Continuity Management is the process of identifying critical business processes, planning how to keep them running during a disruption, and preparing recovery procedures. It typically covers Business Impact Analysis (BIA), continuity plans, and disaster recovery (DR).
2. What is a Business Impact Analysis (BIA)?
A BIA identifies which business processes are critical and measures the impact of disruption using metrics like MTPD (Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption), RTO (Recovery Time Objective), RPO (Recovery Point Objective), and financial impact per day.
3. What's the difference between RTO and RPO?
RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is how quickly a system must be restored after a disruption. RPO (Recovery Point Objective) is how much data loss, measured in time, is acceptable before it causes serious harm.
4. Does Sahl's BCM module support ISO 22301?
Yes. Sahl's BCM module is structured around ISO 22301 requirements, including BIA, continuity planning, and disaster recovery testing, alongside Saudi NCA business continuity requirements.
5. How does AI help with disaster recovery planning?
Sahl's AI DR Assessment reviews backup strategies, recovery time targets, and testing history to flag gaps automatically before they turn into audit findings or real incidents.
